Galerie Baralo & Coste was born of the shared vision of two art lovers: Cécile Coste and Jules Baralo.
With their rich and atypical backgrounds, they have combined their experiences to create a unique space dedicated to contemporary artistic creation.
Cécile Coste has always had a deep love of art. As a child, she spent hours drawing, developing an artistic sensibility that was to mark her whole life. Her curiosity led her to explore a variety of professional fields. Yet her ambition remained intact: to offer artists a chance to express themselves and create a place where their talent could shine.
Jules Baralo began his career in the restaurant business. A graduate of the Vatel hotel school in Lyon, he opened "Le Kaya", a restaurant located at the bottom of the Tignes ski slopes. Equally passionate about contemporary art, it was in this environment that he initiated a career as an art dealer within his establishment, launching talents such as Sara Bagot. This experience led him to realize that his future lay in promoting artistic creation.
Cécile and Jules met over dinner at the Kaya. An idea quickly took shape: combine their skills and dreams to create a space that would reflect their shared passion for contemporary art.
Bored by the constraints of the restaurant business, Jules finds a visionary and enthusiastic partner in Cécile.
Together, they conceived a gallery that would be like them: welcoming, inspiring and forward-looking. In 2023, Galerie Baralo & Coste opened its doors at 43 rue Auguste Comte in Lyon. Located in a vibrant neighborhood, the gallery reflects the founders' love of art.
Each exhibition is conceived as an immersive experience, featuring works that explore color, matter and light. The choice of artists is guided by a desire to present emerging and established talents, in an atmosphere that invites discovery and dialogue.
